Goose Down Comforters Provide The Utmost Comfort

Goose down comforters are the most luxurious comforters you can find. This is due to their great softness, which can be matched by no other when it comes to linens or other types of blankets. Not only are they uniquely soft, but they also come in a huge selection of beautiful designs that are sure to fit in your bedroom or guest room.

Goose down is a huge step above the more common and much cheaper duck down. While duck down is more affordable than goose, it is that way for a good reason. Down that is made with duck feathers is quite soft, but there is a huge gap between duck and goose down comforters when it comes to softness. While duck will do in a pinch or on a tight budget, it will be easy to tell the difference between the two at first touch. And the difference is also plainly obvious when you actually lay under the two types.

However, even among goose down comforters there are still quite a few variations in quality. The type of goose that the down comes from makes a big difference in exact softness. For example, comforters that are made of standard or easy-to-find goose down will not state what country or type of goose that it is. Those that are made with rarer or specially bred goose down will clearly and proudly advertise what they are made of. For instance, comforters that are filled with high-quality Hungarian goose down are most likely going to advertise that fact even before the fact that they are comforters. So this is key to keep in mind.

Also, the fill power will also affect how soft a comforter is. The fill power essentially lets you know how stuffed the comforter is with down. Those that are not completely packed — and hence slightly frumpy — will have a lower fill power. High quality comforters will have a fill power of at least 600, and some of which go all the way up to 800. So this is important to know before deciding on which one you want to purchase.

The material that the comforter itself is made of is also a huge factor in the quality. Micro fiber tends to be the most affordable. It is also easy to clean and is soft as long as the thread count is high enough. The most sought-after and hence expensive comforter material is Egyptian cotton, which is the most prized of linen materials. This type of cotton comforters can usually have a thread count over 500, and can reach thread count heights that would be hard to find otherwise. Goose down comforters combined covered in Egyptian cotton is one of the most luxurious things you could ever own.
